Collaborative Consumption
Is collaborative consumption really taking place? The book, WHAT'S MINE IS YOURS, cites examples such as ZipCar, Car2Go and AutoShare
The book also makes the case that owning stuff can be a burden. Especially now that the electronic world makes it easier to share anything and everything. For example, people are willing to take you places in their car and lend you couch space for the night.

Comment:
In the IT world, price, critical needs, skills availability and privacy, are always the driving factors for selecting a service, or buying assets. Currently the trend is sharing, as it provides flexibility and good price points. Security though, may have to be the next Thought of the Moment.
